Small gist for you. I’ve been so indoor for days whilst going through some chastisement and correction. I was given grace to do something I haven’t done in a long while. Lol. I went to the studio and it was all smiles awayyyyy. Do taking pictures makes you forget your worries and have you all geared up?. It does for me hence whatever makes you happy don’t hesitate to do them.

“Pride goes before a fall” is a popular cliche that we all have heard and accustomed to overtime. It is a signal for everyone to take caution before embarking on the journey of pride. The aftermath is always a bitter pill. Don’t even attempt to take it. Pride is the punch that you don’t see coming that knocks you down. Before blowing the trumpet, I think we should know what pride is because a lot of people have pride in them but they will tell you it’s confidence. Confidence is not in any way similar to pride.
Pride is when a person has an excessively high opinion of themselves and consider themselves the best in the room. It is a feeling of considering yourself more important than others. Pride turns everyone off away from you because it’s a quality that does not attract or do people consider appealing. Confidence can get you hired but pride can get you fired. Now, I think we should know that pride can be a good one like the one a mother or father has for his or her child for their achievement or the pride that comes when you succeed at a thing that seems impossible. Such pride is good. We addressing the hubristic kind of pride that the bible kicks against and even the world rejects.
King Nebuchadnezzar is a really powerful example. In this story, Nebuchadnezzar has a dream that he doesn’t understand, and so he asks Daniel to interpret it for him. Daniel tells him that in the dream, King Nebuchadnezzar is the tree who is chopped down and made to live with wild animals. Daniel says he will have to live this way for 7 years until he learns that God is in control of everything. Nebuchadnezzar was not a humble king! He was very proud of his kingdom and his palace.
One day, Nebuchadnezzar was walking and surveying his kingdom and bragging about it, when all of a sudden he could no longer speak and had to go live with wild animals. He spent 7 years away from his kingdom, just like in his dream. At the end of 7 years, he praised God and knew that God was in charge. He wrote a letter to his people and said, “Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol the King of heaven, for all his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble.” (Daniel 4:37)
What an amazing story about the transformation from pride to humility! While God doesn’t usually work by making people go live with wild animals, we can see in this story how much God values a humble spirit. We can pray and ask God to work in our heart and make us more humble.
I just shared with us a story about a king in the Bible and how God brought him down. That should let us know that No one is honored by God without first being humble. That’s how God honors. Pride is deadly. It closes our minds to learning and makes us selfish. When you acknowledge that you are proud, that’s when humility process begins. Pride leaves when humility comes in, the way darkness leaves when light is present.
Here are ways pride can be overcome. It will not happen overnight but if you keep at it and trust God to help you, there will definitely be a tremendous change in your life.
1. TALK TO GOD: It cannot be overemphasized that God wants a relationship from us and He is so much interested in all our affairs even the smallest details about ourselves. He loves us that much! God hears us when we talk to him but we forget that talking or praying to God is a two-way phone call. If you are battling with this disease called pride, Take a bold step today and talk to God about it. He is able to deliver to you.
- BE OPEN-MINDED: To overcome pride, stay open-minded and try to listen more to people before concluding or shutting them down. If you are in doubt, ask questions. By staying open-minded, it will help you build a better relationship with people around you without looking down on anyone.
EMBRACE ABUNDANCE: Pride manifests itself in a way to be the best no matter the cost even if you have to put others down to build yourself up. We can overcome pride when we view the world from a perspective of abundance that everyone can be the best at what they do because the sky is wide enough to accommodate us all. We are also more accessible to success when we become more collaborative and this opens us to a world of possibilities. With such practice,Ideas are shared and it’s okay if your idea wasn’t approved.
EMBRACE VULNERABILITY: At the heart of pride, is the fear of looking stupid. A proud person likes to appear as if they have it all figured out. They are really afraid of being seen in their lowest moment, this fears put them on a bad state because they will never sought for help. To overcome pride, you need to understand that vulnerability is a good thing and it helps to keep learning and the courage to change. Vulnerability is not weakness, it is the birthplace for innovation, change and creativity.
Lastly, we gain strength , confidence, and courage from each experience when we conquer fear in the face. Overcoming pride is to take action and face the fear that surrounds you. Don’t depend on yourself but trust God’s ability to give you victory over pride and He will implant a more humble attitude in your heart. A heart dominated b love and self-love is not a life governed by pride but humility.
